The first thing we are going to do is to secure the emergency brake, because you won’t want to see your vehicle roll anywhere when you lifting your front tires up, you should ensure your vehicle stand still before you changing your tires. Never change a tire on an incline or hill; always seek a flat surface. Then use bricks or wooden wedges to block the wheels at back to ensure vehicle wouldn’t move.
You can use a screwdriver to pry the wheel cover off. Just insert the point of the tool where the edge of the cover meets the wheel, and apply a little leverage. The cap should pop off. You may have to do this in a couple of places, as if you were prying the lid off a can of paint.
Under wheel cover, you might find several lug nuts and they are hard to remove. A hollow pipe and a cross-shaft wrench can loosen the tightest lug nuts. Please don‘t remove the lug nuts completely, just get them loose enough to remove by hand after you jack up the vehicle.
Place the jack securely under the edge of the car and be ready to lift the vehicle up. To put the jack, proper place may vary among vehicle models, please refer to the owner’s manual for the right place.
Take the lug nuts completely off by hand and put them in a safe place. Grasp the flat tire with both hands and pull it straight toward you and pull the flat off.
Replace with the new tire. Then give each lug nut a jolt with the wrench to get it firmly into place, but wait until the car is on the ground before you really try to tighten the lug nuts.
After the vehicle is resting on the ground, use the lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts as much as you can. Place the wheel cover against the wheel and whack it into place with the heel of your hand. At last, don’t forget to kick off the bricks or wooden wedges you put near the wheels.
That’s the whole process of replace a flat tire. Hope this guide helpful.
